Memorable Tea Set
The best presents are the most personal.
Imagine my surprise when twenty years after admiring that incomplete, yet respectable in number, set of china to be opening a box that my grandparents hand delivered to Colorado from Minnesota as part of our wedding gift! It was a lovely surprise and a forgotten memory so was really two surprises in one.

The Little Laptop That Could
A Christmas gift that never stopped.
If you post a story about a holiday gift you got or a great holiday gift idea, submit your blog post to Blog Carnival with the submit button at the top left.I’m home! The drive wasn’t too bad, and I completely missed DC traffic, and pretty much made it home by 8:30. I spent all last night playing with my laptop, which was a Christmas gift back in 7th grade. It never worked correctly from the first time I ever used it, no matter what we did. So, anyway, you’d think that 7 years later it would completely useless…but not so! I plugged it in, deleted everything on it except for the vital things, and hooked it up to the DSL and it’s running faster than it ever did. Hollerrrrrr.

Creativity 101
Love these holidy gift ideas.
I’ve made a lot of different things over the years. One year I made everyone’s Christmas gift and got them all professionally framed (very expensive darn it). There are a few things that I have made that stick out in my memory. I made my cousins baseball themed pictures with their favorite teams. I made a Precious Moments picture for my Aunt. I made a great picture that is a famous drawing by Bessie Pease Gutmann called Little Mother. When I had it framed at a shop in NY the owner had hung it up in the store until I came to pick it up and customers were commenting on it. I will have to take a picture of it to show you all. It was the first project I had done that was larger than 8X10.

Phissh
Here's a unique gift:
I don’t have time for a huge post, but I’ve just completed a new Phissh and wanted to share. This one is called “The Maude-Puppy”, and is intended as a birthday gift for Les’ mother.

Lesbians and Toaster Ovens
Home sweet home.
A while later, I convinced Coffee that we needed a toaster oven - with just the two of us in the house, it doesn’t always make sense to fire up the gigantic oven to cook three little fish sticks (or whatever) and a toaster oven would be quicker to heat up, too. So we pulled together some wedding gift money and headed out to purchase one, and it’s been happily sitting on my counter ever since. Our lesbian membership toaster oven, purchased with the wedding money received at our very hetero wedding. Welcome to my world.
