At least this request is more literate than most. However, if you were a vendor of frou-frou wedding dresses, sparkly rings, or overpriced bouquets, would you really want your business associated with a site like this one that features things like cigarette lighters dressed up as a wedding party? And more to the point, what relevance does this business have to Tacky Living's readers, unless one considers weddings inherently tasteless?

As with many houses from the 19th century, this house has two front doors. There’s a very logical reason for this. One door leads into the “keeping room”, where the family keeps house. The keeping room contains the large fireplace for cooking, and of course a table and chairs for the family to relax. This is not the room you want to introduce your guests into! So a second door would lead into the living room, which was probably only used for special occasions.

Have you ever wondered what kind of wedding gift a feminist would present, if she ever had occasion to give one? I found the perfect gift; a Raffaele Iannello designed Knife Block.

I am mindful of restaurants’ tendency to over-charge and under-perform on special occasions. (Picholine on New Year’s Eve was my latest experience of that kind.) At the venerable seafood palace Oceana on Valentine’s Day I am happy to say that we were not disappointed, although I suspect it is possible to have a better meal there than we had.

Although I highly recommend The Bar Vendôme, you'll have to remember that this is still the Ritz- polite but insistent staff at the door will ask you why you are entering the hotel (just say you are going to The Bar Vendôme), dressing nicely helps, and the price tag will probably make you consider this place for special occasions only. But then again, any occasion is an occasion for perfect hot chocolate. The standard has been set high by the Ritz, but if something out there in Paris is better, I intend to find it.

This guy at the Ulysse Nardin Forum left his office early to get himself an IWC Portugieser as a birthday gift.. and as you probably already guessed.. he failed doing so and bought an Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Ludwig instead. Lucky bastard!!

received a early birthday gift via ups today. frrrozen hot chocolate mix. package says one delectable drink for two. hmmmmmm the for two makes me sad. maybe adding some kahlua will make me forget about the two part! well anyway it was very thoughtful. what do you get a girl who has everything?- besides a husband!!! the re-order form enclosed says “as seen on oprah”. oprah knows food! i’ll let you know how goes it……..
