The Little Things Count

holiday gift unwrapping christmas present True enough, but the big Christmas presents don't hurt!

As I reflected on this, I realized that children tend to remember the little things: fixing the broken bike, going for a walk down at the river, taking out the nasty splinter, and best of all, being available when they need to talk. The big vacation, special birthday party, expensive Christmas gift all may be meaningful at the time, but what our kids need is us, folding down the computer screen, turning over the book, listening, empathizing, considering, and then giving them the words they need. Little things like these make for a life time of investment.
