Holiday Gifts

We got up insanely early on Saturday to start running errands for our wedding. First stop was the village of Morat, which is next to our Ceremony location, in order to meet with the florist. But before we could do that, before we could function, we needed breakfast.

I mentioned that I’m in trouble; Lucy was steamed when she found out I drove the truck, anywhere. I had sense enough to have the folks at the dealership take me home in their courtesy shuttle. The young man recognized me since I make keys for these folks and have for years. I had him take a slight detour past my favorite florist, Flowers by Lois, where I picked out a visually pleasing table decoration for Lucy to see when she got home. I still had to listen Lucy’s tongue lashing for having taken such a risk; getting out in Houston’s traffic so soon after surgery. I can put up with her being angry; it means she still loves me, enough to remain married to me all these years.

Dalsimer, the florist was great and just everything…I’m still on a high right now and I probably typed way too much, but oh well I’m not deleting it, lol. In my reply to this will be the link to a wedding video I just made with our wedding song. (We won’t get the real thing from the videographer for a month or so). Let me know what you think. A lot of our guests who have been partnered for years said we inspired them. I’m happy to hear that. Dare to dream, folks. Everything is possible. If you’ve been together 5, 7, 10 years…go on and get married!

When I am in the doghouse I can just point my mobile browser to flowers.mobi and hey presto flowers sent or maybe I could just call a local florist.

The second one is a big thank you to Wayne at Brevard Florist on Palm Bay Road. The night before the funeral, we finally decided to have some colored carnations for the children to put on Obadiah’s casket after it was lowered. It seems odd, but it was a big decision just because I couldn’t think very clearly and have been indecisive and kind of lost since Obadiah’s death. Since it was late, I didn’t want to go flower hunting at that hour, so we figured we would just try to get some in the morning on the way up to the gravesite.

I think thats it for me.. I’m going to watch ER and do some ball exersizes. OH! We decided on a florist for the wedding. My friend Lindsay recommended a local florist that my mom actually knows (mom works down the road from the florist and all the businesses in the area have a little community of businesses). Lindsay said that out of all the vendors she dealt with for her wedding last July, this florist was the best and the only vendor she would want to work with again. So mom talked to her and said that we just have to call her about 6 months ahead! So one more thing off the list for now. I think I will start a page for wedding vendor reviews so I can give info to people about who I have dealt with and how their services are/were.

Now, I just feel so alone, so … alone and it’s not a great feeling, I can tell you. I’m thinking it would be nice if someone give me a rose to cheer me up when I’m down, a rubdown when I’m feeling blue, a gift on special occasions like Valentine’s day and on my birthday which is coming up in March.

Mark Meeks, owner of Stockbridge Florist and Gifts has discovered that why he felt his business was fine the local government is not happy with it’s presence! And the city of Stockbridge, GA is attempting to condemn his shop as part of a “downtown development project”. Basically they want to replace his business with things they feel would be more profitable. His business is in fine shape and nothing is worn down. It is not something that is at all worthy of condemnation.

I still think bosses are better than boys. Bosses give you flowers on anniversaries and reward you with $50 gift certificates. Boys don't. Bosses treat you to lunch for your birthday at French or Spanish restaurants. Boys don't. AND at least I get paid despite some of my unhappy moments. Never with boys! Work is worth the heartache.

And here’s another instance where I am friends with brides mom! I first met Michelle’s mom, Nancy Stevens, when I asked her to be the florist for my wedding. Nancy had work that was above and beyond all of the other florists’ work that I had seen. Nancy knows her flowers, knows weddings, and is the most amazing floral artist I have met. Let me tell you . . . the bouquet she made for me has been preserved and is HANGING in my home to this day! I couldn’t have asked for a better bouquet . . . but above all else, I made a great friend!

tonight, i experienced my very first florist interview/appointment. i met with nicole ha designs and left 1.5 hours later feeling like i had made a new friend. nicole was so down to earth and easy to work with. she also had some amazing ideas that totally fit with my own visions. she had alot of opinions and helpful solutions to issues i was battling with. i still don’t know if we will ultimately choose her as our wedding florist, but i had a great introduction to the world of wedding florals!

Lots to do today & tomorrow. I gotta go to a florist and order some lei’s and balloons for the hubby’s graduation this Saturday. It’s gonna be uber crowded!

To use the service customers must first download a shopping application to their mobile via the sites.
