We missed it this year, but Thanksgiving giftsConsider sending your card or gift during Thanksgiving. With less competition of other gifts and more time for the recipient to appreciate your thoughtfulness, you may want to shift your gift giving timing.

Gift Orientation
A funny story about Thanksgiving gifts.
My mom bought me a Thanksgiving gift. She didn’t bother to look at the packages before she got here. The adult Publix Pilgrim salt and pepper shakers were two guys instead of a guy and a girl. We’ve embraced the alternate lifestyles that do exist out there and this Thanksgiving my family had dinner with the gay pilgrims. It was fantastic.

We tried ranking them on a 1 to 5 scale, comparing them to our entire soda experience. Here are our notes, so you can experience drinking a turkey dinner without actually having to do it:

Handmade Gifts
This poem was posted as a Thanksgiving blessing, but poetry is a great holiday gift regardless of the holiday. Some families recite poetry as part of their holiday tradition. What family doesn't sing "Happy Birthday"? Writing a letter or poem to your family or a friend is one of the most touching gifts you can give. If you're not comfortable with your writing skills, make a quilt, knit a hat, bake a pie or take a photo. Handmade gifts are treasured always.
"Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free, Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be, And when we find ourselves in the place just right, 'Twill be in the valley of love and delight. When true simplicity is gain'd To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd, To turn, turn will be out delight 'Till by turning, turning we come round right." "Simple Gifts" by Elder Joseph Brackett, 1848 Alfred, ...
